Day in the Life Experiences are incredible and a session that every family should experience at least once. An honest look at an ordinary day. So many clients ask “But what should we do for our Day?” Here is my list of options, but honestly, the sky is the limit.
Don’t feel like you HAVE to have a fully scheduled day. Day in the Life Experiences can literally be at home all day, we don’t have to actually go anywhere. Especially during Winter… we can come up with a list of things that we can do but it can be totally flexible.
Here are a few ideas for Day in the Life Experiences in the Hudson Valley, Capital Region and anywhere in New England.
- Daily Chores and Routines
- Cook Breakfast together / Eat as a family
- Getting the kiddos ready for the day
- Any morning routines you have as a family

- Take a walk, small hike, playground
- Go to the beach, swimming
- Gardening
- Outdoor project or arts & crafts
- Hanging with your animals
- Carnival, Local Festival, The Fair
- Birthday Party or family celebration

- Community Events or Groups / Volunteering
- Making protest signs
- Amusement Park or Children’s Museum or Art Gallery
- Visit a Historic landmark
- Picnic & small hike at local State Park

- Decorating the Christmas Tree
- Baking Christmas Cookies or Pies
- Making seasonal arts & crafts
- Apple Picking at your favorite orchard

- Visit your local Farmers Market

- Kid friendly Brewery
- Playing in Fall leaves
- Going to a Spring Festival at your local park or garden (Tulip Festival in Albany)

- Taking a trip to NYC or Brooklyn via MTA
- Visiting a nearby city
- Supporting local small businesses
- Grabbing lunch or dinner out
- Schedule a JC Penny awkward photo session
- Dog Park
Please do not feel like you have to “do something” for your session. Day in the Life Experiences are great just living life at home. Kids are amusing and often are more comfortable at home or at their favorite places so if you stick to what you know and normally do, the kids will be more comfortable.
